- Create contacts etc of your Eater sets of obs.
- Photographers gallery: present your thoughts particularly about Awoiska van der Molen- Over printing etc. Small details in white.
- Look at the work of Clifford Ross: he makes the sea, which is always shifting, appear solid.
- Use these two photographers to help you explore how you can alter the images of the sea. Eg. over exposing, inverting
- Draw your skyline into edited and unedited images of the sea. Have more than one skyline.
- Explore drawing the skyline in other colours. e.g., black or even red.
- Layer skylines- conceptually you could look at before and after in war zones- Aleppo for example?
- Really think about where you place the line. Should it be on the horizon? can it cut across fore, mid and background.

Continue with the strand based around the work of Kristen Ferguson, try and photograph the natural landscape while on holiday ranging from the coast line to the mountains that can then be used in new creation of landscape. Take more urban man made landscapes that can then be placed together to create a vast created landscape that can be placed over your natural images.
Use the outlines of the natural landscape in the city environment.
Consider creating a moving /giff that shows the outline of the city over taking the natural landscape

1. Patterned glass-
3. Looking down on people and looking up. Domestic scenes. Lie on the floor and look up at everyday occurrences.
1. Patterned glass-
- take it into natural environment.
- use it to photograph people in their natural environment. The person would be obscured by the glass so that the location informs the viewer rather than the likeness of the person.
3. Looking down on people and looking up. Domestic scenes. Lie on the floor and look up at everyday occurrences.

By 28th Nov: Visit London either South bank or the Barbican but it has to be sunny. Use the shapes of light and shadow on your model in a similar way to the projections. Explore artificial light at night. Car headlights at night to do a similar thing.

If this does not offer the images that we want- return to projections in the studio. OR- maybe film noir

Always know what is the mundane element and what you are doing to add interest. Is it dramatic enough to have an impact on the mundane.
subject matter vs camera angle
subject matter vs saturated colour or film type
Dynamic imagery (e.g. someone jumping)- repeated many times- gradually fades away(?)
Subject vs destroyed film / images
Repetitive action vs Achieving the desired result (John Baldessari)
Mundane imagery vs collaged into something new.
Blocking out parts of a image

Think about the idea of making the mundane interesting the everyday object rituals and routines can be made to look beautiful and interesting.Look at the work of William eggleston and if possible see his show at the national portrait gallery. Think about how you photograph use film and also look at ways you can manipulate the colours in a picture to loo more like film.

My theme: Altering photographs
To develop my ideas further I need to:
Photograph:
Explore different bleaches and cleaning products- does lemon juice have any effect?
Hydrogen peroxide- hair bleach
Lemon juice, salt etc.
Photograph different features separately and the whole face of people of different ages. They don't always have to face forward. These will be combined together to create a Gif with each feature bleaching and changing at a different rate, in a different direction and in different ways.
(A successful project should have at least 6-8 sets or stages of development since you chose your preferred strand. Do you have to organise a particular shoot, studio time or borrow a particular piece of equipment to be able to photograph the images you need?)
Research:
I know you don't like David Hockney but his joiners are appropriate.
(Do you need to find a relevant photographer to support your current development? Do you need to recap your development through a ‘development trail’ or ‘artist and me review’- see below? Is there a relevant exhibition?)
Annotate:
Make sure all annotation is complete.
(Annotate all set tasks, clearly linking them to the exam theme. For the development of your own themes make sure you clearly state your intentions, How it either links to the theme or you previous development, what went well, even better if and what is next)

Verbal Feedback15/1/16
- Annotate transformation of photo technique- what different effects are created depending on the type of camera you use. Does one evoke more of an identity than another?
Verbal Feedback 9/3/16
Take portrait photographs in the studio- very traditional, well lit- SIMPLE
Print then destroy them in different ways. Eg. dip half in bleach, dip half in paint then let it dribble down the photo, use sandpaper or wire wool to wear it away.

Move final double exposure images up to the section that has the original photographs
Develop the idea of trying to create a double exposure portrait using the polaroid and then experiment with using acetate over the top of it. These in turn can then be scanned in and reprinted.
Create visual brainstorms showing your ideas and flow of the project at present the idea of what you are trying to do is getting a little lost
Take a series of new portraits on the polaroid camera but try and get closer to the face fill the frame more it dosent matter if the image comes out blurred because it will be experimented on further.

End of year target grade: B End of project grade: C Still some tasks incomplete or poorly completed. It's difficult having done HGCSE as you leap ahead to more sophisticated developments without actually documenting the very basics of photography ie chemicals, test strips etc. Analysis and annotation needs more breadth and depth. Make sure that you thoroughly explain everything that you do and support this understanding with appropriate images. |
Strand 1
For my first strand I have decided to go back to the basics of reflection i.e. mirror reflections. This links to the environment title as I am capturing someone in their own home environment. The picture I have attached below is what I will be re-creating.
For my third strand I have decided to also be involved with mirrors, however I will combine mirrors and emotions. Meaning, the mirror is representing someone's oppressed emotions. This is inspired by a photographer student called Louisa- http://heytheregood-looking.blogspot.co.uk/2011/03/when-will-my-reflection-show-who-i-am.html
